Bet On Heavy Favourites To Cover Their Asian Handicap

What if we bet on heavy favourites to cover their Asian Handicap line in the Premier League?

Hey Friend,

Are you excited for our new football betting strategy this week? Take a look below!

💡 Strategy

This strategy is easy to follow. We bet on heavy favourites to cover their Asian Handicap in the English Premier League.

Here's how it works:

For each game, if the favourite to win has odds shorter than or equal to 1.3 (3/10), we place a single bet on the favourite team to cover the given Asian Handicap line.

Examples from Round 3 of the 2023-24 Premier League Season:

  • Arsenal vs. Fulham: Arsenal is the favourite with odds of 1.27 (27/100). Since these odds are shorter than 1.3 (3/10), we bet on Arsenal to cover their -1.75 Asian Handicap. This means the bet loses if Arsenal lose, draw, or win by only 1 goal. If they win by 2 goals, we win half the bet. If they win by 3 or more goals, we win the whole bet.

  • Sheffield United vs. Man City: Man City is the favourite with odds of 1.21 (21/100). Since these odds are shorter than 1.3 (3/10), we bet on Man City to cover their -2 Asian Handicap. This means the bet loses if Man City lose, draw, or win by only 1 goal. If they win by 2 goals, we get our original money back. If they win by 3 or more goals, we win the whole bet.

  • Man United vs. Nottingham Forrest: Man United is the favourite, but the odds for them to win are 1.34 (17/50), which is larger than 1.3 (3/10), so we do not bet on this game.

📈 Stats

On average, the heavy favourite team (with odds shorter than 1.3 (3/10)) wins 85% of the time in the Premier League.

This means betting on heavy favourites can be successful if we increase the payout. One way to do this is by betting on heavy favourites to cover their Asian Handicap line, as the regular odds are usually very low.

⭐ Testing

We tested this strategy over the past season of the English Premier League (2023-24). Starting from Round 1, we bet £10 on the favourite to cover their Asian Handicap line for each game where the favourite to win had odds shorter than or equal to 1.3 (3/10).

For the 2023-24 season, we placed bets on 41 games. We won 32% of those bets, making a net loss of £-107.80, which is an ROI of -26.2%.
